Making Informed Financial Decisions

By Rick Amorey

The image of a stock exchange pit has been ingrained in the minds of many. Stock brokers of all shapes and sizes share the trading floor, and almost shout out to place their orders before their peers at dramatic moments. Maybe it was the movies that did it; in any case, this is what most people think of when they imagine the world of the stock exchange in their head.

Even if you squint at the thought of a workplace that shares loud moments like this, you can't deny that it holds a certain gritty. There's just an appeal regarding a place where fortunes are found and lost, sometimes in the same day. It evokes a sense of wonder, and a desire to understand it just enough to try it yourself.

Well, truth be told, the world of stocks is not always as animated as that. Even in the trading pit, such a thing only happens once in a while. Besides, those wanting to start out as investors can do so online, in this day and age. All you need is some capital, and some decent research-making, and you'll be all set.

Do be careful, however; making uneducated guesses in the world of finance can wreak havoc on your savings. It is best, instead, to enlist the aid of experienced stock brokers online. They'll get a small commission, but at least you'll be making safer and more informed decisions.

Just remember; when taking the advice of a stock broker, you should first check that person's credentials. Does the company your broker is convincing you to buy even a current existing company? Is the brokerage firm he or she associated with licensed by the appropriate state? You simply have to do these background checks; for like the rest of the Internet, many online brokers are not who they say they are. - 23212

A Trading Tale

By Rick Amorey

When people wanted to invest, once upon a time, they needed to call their brokers on the phone to secure an order. Then the broker would input the order into a system connected with trading floors, and then the order is made. It was a complicated process to invest in these times, and you really had to know what you were doing if you wanted to invest.

This time is now long gone. With the help of the Internet, potential investors now place their orders online, and can even trade with other investors through Electronic Communications Networks. Of course, a number of orders are still directed to the broker for approval. This way, the clients as well as the brokerage firm are protected from improper trades that could affect the client's portfolio. But on the whole, the system is a lot easier now.

Easier is not the same as safer, however. Like the phone call method of old, investors may easily fall into the hands of disreputable brokerage firms that only seek to scam them of their hard-earned savings. If anything, it's easier to build an anonymous or fake identity online, so be skeptical of anyone who seeks to help you "handle" your money. A good advice would be to triple-check the credentials of the brokerage firm; are they licensed in their state? It's important for an investor to check it out.

If you take an interest in investing, then you need to know the dangers of placing an order without the help of a trained Stock Broker or Investment Advisor. If you go about these maters without their experience, not asking for advice or neglecting to do so, will most likely result in failure. Because of this, a lot of online brokers offer a few investment options.

Then, an investor must be thoroughly aware of the business, sector, and financial statements of the companies they wish to purchase stock from. This information will prevent you from being rash about your decisions. It would do you well to keep these things in mind, and you'll do fine when it comes to online trading. - 23212

The Intelligent Way to Handle Your Savings

By Rick Amorey

The economy of our nation is not exactly a closely guarded secret. There are a lot of news about layoffs, an overall increase in product prices, and controversies regarding payment of insurance companies. The light at the end of the long dark tunnel seems so far away. But there is still hope, and we must keep in mind that in this time of crisis, it's important to keep going.

It is true that jobs are more difficult to get these days, and many people have been suffering from unemployment woes. This also implies that we must practice some more frugality than normal, but that does not mean that we should completely tuck our money under our pillow, so to speak. Instead, find a way to use even a fraction of that money to earn something more. Invest in something and put that money into motion.

That being said, we are in an economic crisis, so it's probably a good idea to put your savings into a low-risk investment for now. Keep in mind that a courageous backing of your investment should come coupled with common sense. If you're unemployed at the moment, then you especially cannot afford a big loss.

So how do you know if an investment is as good as it seems? I'm afraid there's no easy answer; but if you invest a little time studying it, you will learn that the world of finance is not as alien as you thought it would be. Pretty soon, you'll be able to judge if a deal is high-risk, or if it's relatively safe.

Remember that there is really no quick way to increase your assets overnight in the world of finance. It takes patience coupled with an ability to notice and seize opportunities to earn big. Alternatively, you may want to go for the slower but surer path, and get a decent return that will help you weather the ongoing recession. - 23212

Automated Forex Trading

By Hass 67

Forex trading is being called the Recession Proof Business of 21st Century. Forex trading is becoming the best home based business opportunity. You only need a computer and a good internet connection to start trading forex from your kitchen table.

Forex and stock markets work differently in many ways. Forex market is highly liquid as compared to the stock market. Stocks are basically a long term investment method where ordinary people buy stocks either individually or through mutual funds and wait for these stocks to rise in order to build their retirement portfolios.

Forex markets are open 24 hours, five days a week except on weekends. You can trade forex online anytime of the day. On the other hand stock markets are open only from 9 AM to 5PM. After the stock market closes, you have no way to buy or sell a stock.

90% of the people who trade forex are speculators meaning they are looing for making a quick gain. Many forex traders are day traders. Stock trading has traditionally been a long term investment. Once you buy a stock you have locked in your money for a considerable time.

In the US stock markets there are more than 50,000 stocks listed on the different stock exchanges. As compared to that in forex markets, mostly five major currency pairs are traded: USDEURO, USDGBP, USDCHF, USDJPY, USDASD.

Another major advantage of forex trading over stock trading is the lower trading cost. In forex trading, brokers don't charge any commission. They make their profit by the difference between the bid ask spread. In stock trading, the brokers charge a fixed percentage as commission per trade.

Then, dont forget the Stock Market Crash of 2008. People have lost 50-to-75% of their portfolios and retirement accounts, even with so called blue chip stocks - those having proven value over many years and many bought as the backbone of an investment portfolio.

There is a bear market in stocks right now. This bear market may take a few more years to recover. On the other hand, forex markets are always bullish. SInce, currencies are always traded in pairs. If one currency loses, the other currency gains.

Daily more than $3 trillion get traded on the forex markets. If you combine all the stock markets of the world, even then they cannot the match the size of the forex market. Forex markets are so huge that even governments and central banks are unable to control them.

Now, most of the people are wondering how they can recoup their losses in the stock market crash and build their retirement accounts again

Global Macro Investing and Different Asset Classes

By John Keynes

There are ten asset classes that are regularly traded by global macro investors. Real estate, venture capital, equities, currencies, commodities, cash, bonds, collectibles, statistical arbitrage, and private equity. While a few of these are tough for individual investors to get into, the majority are easily accessible.

Cash is considered the asset class of last resort. You go to cash when you don't have anywhere else to put your money. Remember that we want great risk to reward situations, so when we can't find one we sit out in cash.

Equities are the next asset class on the list. We include domestic, foreign, and even emerging market stocks in the same broad asset class category. Equities represent ownership in a company.

Bonds also known as fixed income are simply loans to governments and corporations. In return for the loan you get interest payments. Most global macro traders look at US government, foreign government, and corporate bonds when looking for a fixed income trade. By looking at multiple sub classes we have more opportunities for great risk to reward trades.

Next on the list are commodities. Commodities include precious metals, base metals, energy complex, agricultural goods, and livestock. Basically global macro trades lumber, oil, gold, etc if the risk to reward is in place.

The largest asset class is that of currencies. Currencies have long been one of the primary trading assets for macro traders. If you have an opinion on one country versus another then you have a basis for a trade. If the reward outweighs the risk then you can have another asset class to trade.

So what of the other assets classes? Well they tend to be less liquid so you need a lot of money to trade them well. For instance you can make a lot with real estate but you need to have a long time horizon. Same goes for art, venture capital, and private equity. You can trade this stuff but it takes a different time frame then most investors are used to. - 23212
