The Wonders of Credit Card Processing

By Amy D. Perry

Owning a small business can be a risky thing to do. For some it may even seem like certain doom is lurking around every corner. With competitive markets, bank foreclosures, and the risk of going bankrupt a small business owner must do what he or she can to stay in business. One sure fire way to ensure your company will flourish is to take full advantage of credit card processing and obtaining a merchant account from your local bank.

To acquire a merchant account for your business you must speak with your local bank customer service representative and find out if they offer merchant accounts to small businesses. If they dont offer merchant accounts you can still receive credit card processing service from third party companies who offer it at a similar rate as the banks do.

After speaking with a bank representative and if they inform you that you are being considered for an account you must then present your work space. The bank will need to verify that you are conducting business, so they will send a bank staff member to observe your office space.

If the bank feels your office space is adequate you must then file in some important paper work. The bank will need copies of the tax returns from the previous year. They will also require complete access to your companys bank account so they can withdraw or add funds accordingly.

Most banks will charge 2-3% tax on all transactions. You are basically paying them to let you accept bank cards. While this may seem unorthodox remember they are providing you with a service as well. Also be careful with some companies. They may want to charge you a higher tax on your transactions. Dont be suckered in to paying a 5% tax. Keep your options open and always have more than one company to choose from.

After obtaining a merchant account you will be able to take full advantage of credit card processing. Now you can receive various forms of payment for your service or business. A customer is very likely to pay for an item with a debit card rather than with cash. Online banking has made electronic money storage very simple and has almost made the need for carrying cash obsolete.

Not taking advantage of credit card processing is almost irresponsible. Without it you are guaranteed to lose business. People will simply walk out of your establishment when they find out you only accept cash (if you havent set up a merchant account yet).

Taking advantage of credit card processing is crucial to keeping your business open. With a merchant account you will see an increase in business. Anyone without an account will surely see a decline. - 23212

Questions to Ask Your Bankruptcy Attorney

By David Williams

It?s not easy to decide to file for bankruptcy. By working with a knowledgeable bankruptcy attorney, though, you can make filing for bankruptcy at least a little less stressful.

But how do you find the right bankruptcy attorney for you? Simple: You have to ask each attorney whom you interview the right questions. It?s all part of doing your homework, and will help you find the ideal professional to guide you through the bankruptcy process.

First, ask potential attorneys how much of their practice that they devote to bankruptcy work. Bankruptcy laws change all the time. Attorneys who file bankruptcy cases on a regular basis will remain up to date on the latest nuances of bankruptcy law.

You should also ask attorneys if they will accompany you in your court hearings. In many bankruptcy cases, you will be required to attend only one court hearing. Still, it?s better to have your attorney at your side rather than a paralegal. Not all attorneys, though, will attend the court hearings with their clients.

You should also ask bankruptcy attorneys to look at your financial situation to determine if bankruptcy might not be the best option for you. Filing for bankruptcy is extremely damaging to your credit history. Perhaps a bankruptcy attorney will suggest a different course of action. Of course, for many people, filing for bankruptcy, despite its negative effects, is still the best choice.

Next, ask attorneys what information they?ll need from you to get started on your case. Don?t be surprised if attorneys ask for a lot of paperwork. Filing for bankruptcy isn?t easy, or simple. That?s why you need a bankruptcy attorney in the first place.

Next, make sure any bankruptcy attorney that you are considering working with uses a written fee agreement. This agreement will spell out exactly what the attorney will do and how much the attorney will charge. It?s a good way to avoid problems down the road, and is a must for reputable attorneys.

After attorneys answer these questions to your satisfaction, you should then ask about fees. Too many people ask about this first, before taking the time to determine if a particular bankruptcy attorney is the right one for them. Yes, price is important. But just because a bankruptcy attorney charges a lower fee, that doesn?t make him or her the right attorney for you.

Remember, you do get what you pay for. Often, the cheapest bankruptcy attorney isn?t the best one for you. You want a knowledgeable, skilled and ethical bankruptcy attorney. These often don?t come cheap. Ask the right questions, though, and you?ll find the right attorney. - 23212

Know more about REO before purchasing one.

By Angela Kleinertski

REO is defined as Real Estate Owned. Everyone is talking about REOs these days. But before you consider buying one, there are a few things you should know about REOs. These properties are generally owned by banks, credit unions, mortgage companies and sometimes private companies. It has become increasingly common for the news to report foreclosure issues and homeowners losing their houses and other effects of the mortgage crisis.

The people that are being marketed by these REO sellers are mainly first-time and minority potential homebuyers. Fannie Mae works with many companies to help these types of homebuyers realize the American Dream of owning your home using reasonable and affordable loans. There has been a shift in the industry from marketing REOs to those who "flip" houses to first-time homebuyers.

There are many laws regarding foreclosures and the process. Mainly, when the property is in the pre-foreclosure and auction stage, the bank (owner) is only legally entitled to its losses and expenses. This is to say that the bank (owner) is not entitled to gain a profit from the sale. This changes however, after the property has been foreclosed on it becomes an REO.

REOs sale prices is generally lower than that of a similar non-REO property. In today's market , this may not always be the case. This is mostly due to the fact of the number of such properties in the market. Even though a property is an REO, it does not mean that the owner will not make a profit off the sale.

Let's put it this way that you've already decided you want an REO. You should know that there are risks associated with this deal you are getting. When considering your REO purchase, make sure you have contact information for various experts who will guide you in the inspection process.

You will require a Realtor, who can protect your interests and make sure you get the best deal possible. Your Realtor will be able to generate reports for you showing comparable sales prices which will enable you to assess whether the asking price for the REO you are considering is appropriate.

REO are property that is what you see is what you get. You will require a qualified home inspector to guide you with this step of your REO purchase process. Only a qualified inspector will be able to reveal latent flaws or issues that you will need to consider before you purchase the REO. You will need to factor in the costs of potentially repairing, replacing or rehabilitating the necessary sections of the property into the price you will be paying.

When purchasing an REO it takes longer, you are not dealing with Mr. and Mrs.Homeowner, you are dealing with either a Bank or an Investment Company. The decision making and sale approval process in a business takes much longer than with individuals. It could take weeks to get an approval on your offer. Additionally, even though most banks will remove taxes and occupants from the property, in order to protect yourself, you should perform a title search. - 23212

Want To Know What Penny Stocks To Buy? Look Inside....

By Sam Lockwood

Penny stocks have been around for a long time - they've been part of American investment strategies since the 19th century. That's where these stocks were named, since the modern penny stock actually costs somewhere between a dime and five dollars, not a penny. Let's have a look at the risks you incur by investing in these stocks, as well as the ways they can help investors profit.

Penny stocks are share offerings made to investors by companies that are just too small or new to have a listing with the major stock exchanges. They have significant growth potential, and the initial investment can be quite small, but you run the risk of encountering a pump and dump scheme. Like anything else dealing in the OTC (over the counter) market, the buyer should beware.

Choosing penny stocks in a reasonable fashion means having the business model of the company selling them independently appraised. This is like buying shares in any other company that's being publicly traded. It's important to understand the company's business model, what they're doing, who's competing with them, what they make and what products are being offered.

The thing that makes penny stocks so appealing is that most businesses offering them are actually extremely simple. One typical example of a penny stock company is that of a mining company that profits only when the price of the material it extracts reaches a certain number. There are also a few oil exploration stocks that are valued in this way.

Penny stocks are considered a high risk vehicle, according to the Securities and Exchange Commission. The risks you may encounter with these stocks include indirect and incomplete reporting of financial information, limited liquidity and even fraud. People using a day trading strategy can find that penny stocks that are in sudden demand create enormous volatility movements. Because of this, it's hard to short sell penny stocks.

The reporting guidelines on penny stocks are a lot less strict than they are for stocks listed on the national exchanges. In fact, some stocks will just delist for a few days. In the investment type known as the Pink Sheets, there's almost no regulatory requirement on penny stocks, no minimum accounting standards or reporting guidelines.

Because these stocks aren't standardized and don't have an generally accepted requirements for accounting, they can be extremely vulnerable to being manipulated or even just plain fraud. People posing as independent observers can encourage people to run up the price, then they sell and de list the stock. This is the classic pump and dump scam.

That doesn't mean you should be scared away from these kinds of stocks completely. There are plenty of reasonable startup companies, and they need somewhere to start. If you're able to pick a winner out of them, you'll get a significant return.

If you're able to spot a company with lots of promise, you could get an enormous payday. Even if you lose four out of five of your picks, the single winner you get will give you enough to forget about the other losses. - 23212
